Metabolism research to enhance the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of nutrient-linked diseases.
Who We Are
The Metabolism and Nutrition Training Program (MANTP) is an NIH-funded training grant leveraging UW-Madison’s unique research and educational resources to realize the promise of personalized nutrition. We prepare predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees for biomedical research careers that impact the health of the Nation. Specific objectives of MANTP are:
- Engage trainees in cross-disciplinary biological research
- Broaden trainee nutrition knowledge base
- Develop physician-scientists and PhD/RDNs
- Enhance career competitiveness
- Ensure all voices contribute to scientific progress

“To fully realize the potential of nutrition science, we need a new generation of nutrition and metabolism scientists with cross-disciplinary training who can recognize issues of clinical and public health importance, apply data science to generate hypotheses, design and execute experiments to test those hypotheses, and identify, implement, and evaluate nutrition interventions.”
