In the central nervous system, neuron-astrocyte cross-talk is crucial for signaling, energy metabolism, and neuroprotection. My project aims to elucidate the influence of astrocytes in the regulation of neuronal lipid metabolism and what are the underlying mechanisms. To achieve the goal of the projects, immunofluorescence, biochemical techniques and mass spectroscopy of primary cortical neurons were done. Comparison between the neurons treated with/without astrocytic secreted factors (ASF) shows a significant change in the major cellular events related to lipid homeostasis in primary cortical neurons in response to ASF.
